Main important that Red Cross Society gave are tattoo stuff may be not clean enough and risk of infection. Infection could be Hepatitis B, C, or HIV. And why waiting for 1 year is if there is any infection, they need more time to find diseases. People with new tattoo and donate immediately can not detect for pathogen, because there are less amount and hard to detect. So blood recipients have high risk of infection.
Although you tattoo in the cleanest and highest standard, but tattoo artists don’t have medical professional license. There still be risks in the point of view of Red Cross. So we need to consider about massive safety too. Blood recipients should not risk with something like this.
But there’s exception for non-permanent tattoo that needles are not deep into the skin. So people who get paint eyebrows tattoo which is not permanent tattoo could be allow for blood donation.
